How do I register?
It’s easy to register online. You can find the registration form here.
Is there a registration fee?
My Wellness Walk is free. All we ask is that you put your best foot forward with fundraising to raise as much sponsorship as possible, to help transform the lives of people living with diabetes in the UK.
Can children take part?
Yes, absolutely, but they’ll need an adult to register on their behalf. We must ensure that all contact details are that of the child's parent or guardian. Once their page has been created, the name on the profile page, the picture and their story can be updated to that of the child's.
We’ll only communicate with the adult. We don’t have permissions to speak to under 18s about fundraising and the challenge.
When is My Wellness Walk?
Choose a day in September to walk your 10 miles. But you can start fundraising right away!
Where should I do my walk?
You can complete your wellness walk anywhere you like. Walk in the park, around your local town, or even 10 miles around your garden. My wellness walk provides you with the perfect opportunity to see your local area in a new light.
Why a virtual challenge?
With hundreds of events postponed and many of the Diabetes UK community shielding right now – we wanted to provide our amazing supporters with a challenge that they can do their way but also amongst an amazing online community of people all striving for wellness.
As we sadly had to cancel our 13th London Bridges Challenge, it also allows us to keep in contact with all of our amazing supporters from the comfort of your own home.
It has never been more important for us to take care of our wellbeing and - now that we can spend a bit more time outdoors - it’s important that we keep active. My Wellness Walk will give you to have a fitness goal to work towards, as well as the space and time to reconnect with what’s important in life.
How do I track my walk?
You can register with Strava – a free fitness tracker, and this will allow you to track your miles as you walk. Alternatively, you can plan your walk before hand and rely on a trusty map as you go. Make sure to log your miles onto your profile page once you have completed your 10 mile walk to earn your well-deserved virtual badges.
Can I use the distance tracker to track my practice steps?
You can absolutely use the distance tracker on your profile page, however best helps you, whether this is uploading your practice miles as you go or waiting and uploading your 10 miles all at once. If you upload your practice miles before you complete your 10 mile walk, you will receive the virtual badges prematurely. If at any point you want to clear your miles walked, you can do so on your profile page.
Do I have to do the 10 mile walk all in one go?
We would recommend that you push yourself to walk the 10 miles in one go. The commitment that you will make to training and preparing for your walk will really help you to make the change towards better wellbeing. However, if 10 miles is too much of a challenge for you, we still would love to welcome you to the challenge. All we ask, is that you choose a distance that will push you and show commitment to starting your wellness journey with us.
